Wander & Wilde Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Wander & Wilde (https://www.wanderandwilde.com/) is governed by the following privacy policy. We take privacy and the security of collected data very seriously and are committed to protecting it. This policy is to inform you of the type of personal information the site collects and how it is processed and used. If you do not agree to the Privacy Policy, do not access or use this website.

Wander & Wilde is a place where adventures (big and small!) can be shared and experienced together as a community. The primary focus of news and information presented is for individuals worldwide with a passion for all things travel and lifestyle.

An IP address is an anonymous bit of data dropped by all site visitors (both human and bots). It is tracked by the following entities for better security, content creation, and marketing purposes. Your browser may also send response headers with generic/anonymized information about the type of browser, computer/device, and ISP you are using, and your location by country only.

The privacy policy of each entity that collects this information is linked below, if you would like more info about them.

  • Google Analytics – so I can discover the type of content you find most helpful and create more of it. (Note: Google does not have access to this data.)
  • WordPress.com (where my website is hosted) – collected analytics on page view kept in the server to view traffic, overall geography of readers, and pages viewed on the site.

Wander & Wilde engages in affiliate marketing, which is done by embedding tracking links into the website. If you click on a link for an affiliate partnership, a cookie will be placed on your browser to track any sales for purposes of commissions. Affiliate programs include:

Amazon Associates, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and links to Amazon.com.  As part of this Amazon Associates program, this website will post customized links provided by Amazon to track the referrals to their website. This program utilizes cookies to track visits for the purpose of assigning a commission on these sales.

My email list service provider is Squarespace and emails are generated through MailChimp. If you elect to subscribe to my blog, your email address will be stored on their servers. You can edit your subscription at any time by clicking “Preferences” at the bottom of any email you receive from Mail Chimp to change or delete email address.

I never have, and never will share your email address with any person or entity for marketing purposes. That includes Facebook. I will never upload my email list to that platform or any other.

Leaving a comment on one of my posts requires that you identify yourself by email address. That information is stored in Squarespace’s database. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if the email address you used is connected to that provider so your happy face displays next to your comment.

No payments are collected through the Wander & Wilde site.

Contact Forms – none of the contact form fields are held in the site’s database, including your email address. But your email address is retained in Yahoo email so I can reply to you.

Wander & Wilde frequently links to helpful info and resources provided by vendors and other bloggers. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you on their site. I do not control these third-party websites and am not responsible for their privacy statements. When you leave Wander & Wilde, I encourage you to read the privacy notice of every website you visit.

You can disable cookies through your own browser settings. Check with the browser vendor for more info on how to do that, if you wish.

Wander & Wilde makes no representation, warranties, or assurances as to the accuracy, currency, or completeness of any privacy polices of 3rd party entities that information is shared with.

You are welcome to contact me directly with any questions or concerns you may have about your information that is collected through the site.
